we analyze and interpret the secret meanings behind people’s dreams or nightmares, and it’s all free, too! but, to start this off, we decided to compile the meanings of the most common dreams people have. enjoy!
BEING CHASED OR ATTACKED
these dreams are a natural reaction to daily stress; it could be that an important or stressful event is getting closer and closer, or that you are trying to ‘get away’ from something in your waking life, literally or figuratively. common causes: work/school stress, being around toxic people, moving, leaving/attempting to leave an abusive or dangerous situation, big events.
BEING LOST OR TRAPPED
there are many dreams that can be lumped under this category: being buried alive, being unable to speak or move, looking for something important and never finding it, etc. these dreams occur because of confusion and conflict. they could appear because of how other people act around you, or because of how you act around other people. common causes: being ignored, being in an abusive situation, financial or romantic issues, being lied to.
BEING INJURED, ILL OR DYING
when you dream of the unintentional death of anyone, their death symbolizes something inside of you that is no longer functioning, emotionally or physically. on the other hand, it can also symbolize new beginnings! on the other other hand it is also commonly associated with extreme anxiety about your appearance and how others see you. common causes: actual illness, moving, getting into a new relationship, being at/expected to be at a large social event, acting excessively different around close friends and family.
ever dreamed about missing for a test? giving an embarrassing speech? bombing a job interview or single-handedly ruining a play? dreams like these can occur at any point in your life and usually mean that you are being tested some way in waking life. some psychologists even say that they can be caused by anxiety in the bedroom. common causes: having a bad day, dealing with difficult people or situations, anxiety, big events.
FALLING OR FLYING
this is definitely the most common one! falling dreams are often reflections of insecurities and helplessness, specifically because of a lack of support or definitive life choices. flying dreams are almost the opposite — they are meant to fill the dreamer with confidence, creativity and leave them with a sense of spirituality. common causes: (falling) unemployment, distancing yourself from friends or family, arguments with loved ones, being in an abusive situation (flying) lack of stimulation, ___-block, being in a religious space, overcoming personal issues.
BEING NAKED IN PUBLIC
having a dream about being naked in public means that you are feeling exposed or vulnerable. the dreams also have elements of shame and embarrassment. common causes: issues with body image, being betrayed, making a bad speech or public appearance, being ill, constantly being in the limelight.
floods, tidal waves, earthquakes, tornadoes…these all represent personal problems raging out of control. if you have these dreams constantly, then chances are you’re seriously ignoring the elephant in the room (whatever it may be). common causes: breakups, arguments with loved ones, school/work stress, ignoring mental or physical health.
